Hello from Miss Shannon!
Welcome back from (what I hope was) another great summer! I am excited and honoured to once again be the advisor for Driven! This year we have a lot of great things to look forward to and I hope your student is excited for what lays ahead!
Attached is a list of apps we will be using this year, as well as the supplies list that your students have received. Please turn in money for supplies as soon as possible. Communication is very important to me so please feel free to catch me at pick up at the end of the day, or email me at email@example.com. I will update the classroom blog once a month to let you know the upcoming units and schedules, as well as major announcements and fun pictures! http://a21academydriven.weebly.com/
I will email parents as well, as that seems to be the best mode of communication. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask! I look forward to seeing you all soon!
Miss Shannon :)
APPLICATIONS ON THE IPAD
Apps are regularly updated on your child’s iPad. Please take a look at new Apps! Here is a list of some of the main “players” and their function (in no particular order). At the beginning of each class banners and notifications are turned off as the iPad is a tool used for learning during that time. Students have been given a gmail for the purpose of accessing many of these apps which was created by the advisor. If you EVER have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask!
Showbie is an App used for helping to keep the classroom paperless. Students have access to work
which they can fill out and send back for grading.
Edmodo is a tool where advisors can share files, send notes, and students can collaborate. It’s great for
organization and communication. Handouts allows students to receive assignments, complete assignments, send them to the advisor for grading. It is the MAIN app to look at student work.
IXL is a Math practice app, which is divided by grade and different strands of Mathematics. Kindle is how students access our novel studies. Books will be updated throughout the year.
Read with Me is an assessment tool for reading, and allows advisors to track student progress.
EPIC is another great app for reading with thousands of books to choose from at all levels.
Prodigy is a great math app we use as a way to track student progress while they are having fun. The questions progress in difficulty as students advance.
